Finger Alert attached to a door
Injured, bruised, broken or even torn off fingers because of doors slamming shut. More than 40.000 children in the UK and 7000 children in the Netherlands visit the Accident and Emergency department for treatment of these injuries every year.
However, the real number of child finger injuries is much higher than reported by the Council for Consumers and Safety. Most cases of finger injuries occurred in the children's own homes or in school. This is the reason that Arte Viva is introduced the both-patented Finger Alert door safety strip 110 degrees and 180 degrees. With this vertical transparent strips which narrows the crack between the door and doorjamb, trapped fingers will become a thing of the past.
In Holland alone 10,000 victims of all ages visited A and E for treatment of injuries to their fingers in 1998. The majority of these victims were younger than 15 years old, more than half of them aged between 1 and 4 years old. Most of the injuries occur to the fingers; 78%, followed by the hand: 7% and then the foot: 4%. An open wound to the fingers is the most frequently occurring injury (34%). Most incidents occur in the home as children play, but also happen often in crèches, day-care centres, schools etc.
"Probably the best sold door safety strip in the world!"
Safety
These above-mentioned facts are reasons enough for Arte Viva to search for a safe and structural solution for this problem. The Finger Alert is the result of this search. This product prevents injuries caused by fingers being jammed between the door and the jamb resulting in a safer environment for children. The Finger Alert is easy to install in nearly all types of doors.
